ABOUT THE LOCATION
This building resembles a castle from fairy tales and it is called the Blue palace. It was built by a merchant of a second guild Skoryna at his own expense. It aimed to host guests. In XIX century there was the hotel “Slovianskyi”, on the first floor there was a clock store of a merchant I.P. Zeiger and a pastry store “Konstantynopol”. The blue castle is a two-storey brick building in romantic style with some neo-gothic elements. The facade is fully accessorized. The rooms were decorated in the aristocratic style of Vienna and the cast iron stairs made an impression as if it was a very delicate lace. At the hotel stayed Sava Golovanivskyi, Leonid Pervomaiskyi, Viktor Kondratenko, Mate Zalka, Angal Gidash, Fridesh Karikash, Shando Gergel, M.P. Stelmah, I.S. Kozlovskyi, O.M. Ivanov-Kramskoi. In soviet times the hotel was still functioning but with the name “Dnipro”. In the 1970s the building hosted some state institutions. In 1994 – 1998 it was restored at the expenses of Ukrsotsbank. Blue palace is a historical place of interest of Ukraine.
